History

Founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, a Rajput Chief in the Rathore family. Rao Jodha conquered the surrounding territory and founded a state called Marwar, which became the capital of Jodhpur. The city was present on the linking road between Delhi to Gujarat.

Weather

As it is known fact, Rajasthan is hotter & humid during summers, it is best to visit Jodhpur from October to March, i.e. the Winter season.

Mehrangarh Fort:

One of the largest forts in India, Mehrangarh Fort is a spectacular piece of art. It is located in the centre of the city at the top of the hill. The fort is built using red sandstone is an impressive monument with a history that attracts visitors.

Umaid Bhawan Palace:

It was built by Maharaja Umaid Singh of Rathore Family and is a must visit the place. It is one of the heritage hotels of Jodhpur and is spread across lush-green gardens.

Jaswant Thada

It’s a beautiful white monument built in 1899 by Maharaja Sardar Singh and is also referred as Taj Mahal of Marwar. The interiors are carved intricately and hold portraits of rulers of Jodhpur.

Based in the Sadar Market & narrow alleys, Clock Tower is a major a landmark and one can visit the markets selling Indian vegetables, spices, sweets, textiles and much more.

Chamunda Devi Temple:

At the end of the Mehrangarh Fort, you will find Chamunda Devi Temple and it contains the main idol of Chamunda Mataji.
