Not only is Delhi the capital city of India, it is also the tourism capital of India. It is from this place that great emperors of the Mughal dynasty ruled this entire nation.

During the days of the Mughal Empire, they decorated the city with all kinds of architectural grandeur that can leave you wonderstruck.

Some of them are not just world heritage sites but like the Taj Mahal which features as one of the seven ancient wonders of the world.

The capital city of India

• A truly fascinating tourist destination in Delhi and a treat to the eyes is Red Fort. Standing on the banks of River Yamuna, this national monument is made entirely of Sandstone. It was built by the great Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, in the 17th century. Tourists flock to this monument especially after nightfall for attending its special light and sound shows.
• Another architectural splendour, exemplary of the Mughal craftsmanship is the famous Jama Masjid. Built in 1644, this is religious place was also built by Shah Jahan and attracts tourists from all across the world.
• A beautiful and contemporary architectural creation, of modern India, is the Lotus Temple. Built in 1986, this structure is made of pure white marble, and the structure represents an open lotus.

If true beauty is what you want to witness, then there are several places around Delhi that you truly cannot miss. The nearest destination to Delhi, which is a true paradise for its visitors, is Agra. Home to one of the 7 wonders of the world, Agra is a city exemplifying true elegance and beauty.

Another example of the beautiful Mughal craftsmanship, the Taj Mahal is considered to be one of the most beautiful monuments in the world. Set on the banks of River Yamuna, the Taj Mahal was also built by Emperor Shah Jahan and is a beauty created with ivory white marble. Covering 17 hectares of ground, the Taj Mahal has been described as India’s richest possession.

The pink city, Jaipur

A trip to this country cannot end without visiting the most colourful state of India, Rajasthan. The pink city of India, Jaipur forms a golden triangle with Agra and Delhi. Studded with lakes, hills and magnificent forts, this walled city is famous for its pink shops and narrow lanes. While visiting Rajasthan, make sure to arrange for a short trip to the Ranthambore National park. This former sanctuary and current National Park covers 400 sq. meters of land and was originally a hunting land for the British and Jaipur’s royalty. While visiting Ranthambore, also try visiting Ranthambore School of art, Jogi Mahal, Ganesh Temple, and the famous Ranthambore Fort.

Considered to be the most romantic city in the country, your trip to the state of Rajasthan will simply remain incomplete without visiting the city of Udaipur. Home to some of the most beautiful gardens, havelis and palaces of India, Udaipur boasts the rich heritage of the Rajputs and highlights the splendour of Rajput architecture. Just walking through the beautiful tiny lanes of this city gives a unique old-world charm.

There’s so much to do while in Udaipur that you’ll need to stay at least three days in the city.
