Bannerghatta National park is situated near Bangalore, was announced as a National Park in 1974 and in 2002 a part of the national park was declared as the biological reserve called Bannerghatta Biological Park.

Bannerghatta National Park is divided into various divisions like a zoo, an aquarium, a pet corner, a snake house, and a butterfly enclosure. The major attraction of the place is the Bannerghatta National Park Safari, trekking, and hiking.

Bannerghatta Safari tour takes you closer to experiencing the wildlife in the natural forest of Bannerghatta. During the safari, visit you can come across the panoramic glances of landscapes, lush green forests, hillocks & valleys. Safari is divided into different divisions like-

Lion Safari – Lion Safari is spread over an area of 5.00 Ha surrounded with 15-foot high chain link mesh fence. This safari houses overall 20 lions out of which 10 are male and the rest 10 are females.

Tiger Safari – Tiger Safari is also fenced with tall chain link mesh. This Safari has the facility of 11 holding, houses 22 normal Tigers (15 male and 7 females) and 7 white tigers (3 male and 4 females).

Herbivore Safari – This Safari covers an area of 68.00 Ha surrounded with stone walls. Safari also has a facility of solar power fence and Elephant proof trench. This safari has various animal feeding vegetation like bamboo, anogassius, sacharam, heteropogan, symbopogan, and shorea telura. This area also comprises few water bodies like Seegadikunte, Chennamanakere, Deepankere, and Gowdanakere.

Few most prominent animals found in this safari are Cheetal, Nilgai, Gaur, Barking Deer, Sambar, pangolin, wild boar, porcupine, and Black Buck.

Bear Safari – Bear Safari has been expanded into a vast area of 18.00 Ha with a housing facility of 5 blocks. Bear Safari houses 78 bears (32 male and 46 females)

The Bannerghatta National Park has many other places to visit like Zoo houses a variety of mammals, reptiles, and birds like Thamin deer, Himalayan Black Bear, King Cobra, Panthers, and Crocodile. You can also visit the Wildlife Film Show, Museum, Butterfly Park, and enjoy Boating.

How to reach Bannerghatta National Park – The National Park is well-connected from the Bangalore city through numerous Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses and private transfer services.
