Places to Visit Near Golden Temple

Golden Temple is considered as one of the sacred places, which are known for its religious beliefs and beautiful architecture. This Temple is the pride for Sikh religion and is the centre of attraction for Indians as well as Foreign Tourists.

Jalianwala Bagh

The well-known place Jallianwala Bagh is the public park, which is remembered for its heinous act of public massacre, which was conducted by the British Army Officers. The place has the stain marks of bullets, and shots used by the Britishers to kill the Indians.

Durgiana Temple Amritsar

The well known and mesmerizing Hindu Temple in Amritsar, Durgiana is approximately one and a half kilometres from the Golden Temple. This temple is the replica of Golden Temple, which is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga.

The prominent temple was constructed in the year 1908 by Harsai Mal Kapoor. The beautiful temple has the idols of Lord Hanuman, Mata Shitla, along with Lakshmi Narain.

Akal Takht

As the name suggests, the Akal Takht is the temple of Sikhs, which is constructed in the premise of the Golden Temple by Guru Hargobind Sahib. This was once used as the place of justice and for solving the temporal issues.

Tarn Taran

This prominent tourist destination in Punjab, Tarn Taran has situated approximately 22 km away from the Golden Temple. It is the religious place for Sikh People constructed in the Tarn Taran District of Punjab.

The Tarn Taran Gurudwara was built by Arjan Dev Ji, who was the fifth Sikh Guru. There is one belief for the place that it has Sarovar, which is believed to be the largest among all the Sikh Shrines.

Tarn Taran is renowned Gurudwara in near Amritsar, which is crowded with the devotees on the Amavasya of every month.

Harike Wetland

Hari Ke Pattan also known as Harike Wetland is considered to be the largest wetland in northern India.

The Wetland, which is spread over three districts comprising Ferozepur, Kapurthala, and Amritsar is manmade riverine created artificially. This is also considered as  Ramsar Sites in India.

The wetland provides the home to the various species of turtles, snakes, amphibians and fishes. The wetland is located in Tarn Taran district of Punjab.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum

Maharaja Ranjit Singh was called, ‘the Lion of Punjab’, who freed a major part of Punjab from the shackles of the Mughals. This beautiful museum is constructed in Lawrence Road, Company Bagh of Amritsar.

It is known for its displays of the chivalrous activities of the Maharaja, along with artifacts associated with the greatest battles he fought with his enemies.

Bathinda Fort

This historical monument is located in Bathinda District of Punjab.

Bathinda Fort is known for its intense relation with the history of Sultana Razia’s imprisonment. This beautiful monument is situated 160 km away from Amritsar.
